Seattle, July 14 : For the first time ever, Tibet will be represented at a North American Soccer tournament. Team Tibet is one of the 37 nations competing in the All Nations Cup Qualifiers Festival Weekend from July 14 – 16. Team Tibet is comprised of 21 exile Tibetans, most of whom were born and raised in India or Nepal or had fled into exile in their youth.

“For us Tibetans, being able to play in the All Nations Cup under our national flag makes us very proud,” said Rinzin Sangpo, Team Tibet’s coach. “Ever since we started our team, we have dreamed of an opportunity like this.”

The renowned Tibetan artists Tsering Wangmo, Tsering D. Bawa and Sonam Tashi will showcase traditional Tibetan music and dance during the cultural performances organized as part of the All Nations Cup. In the qualifying matches, Team Tibet will play against Japan, Korea and Nepal.

“I don’t mind playing against Nepal, because all of the games here will be conducted in a spirit of friendship,” said Phuntsok Chuteng, Team Tibet’s captain and eldest player. “I am a Kathmandu native, and the nation of Nepal has been very generous to us Tibetan exiles. I am very happy that we will be playing with our brothers from Nepal.”

Tenzin Dhongthok, Team Tibet manager, said: “The motto of the All Nations Cup is ‘One Passion, One World.’ Although our country is under Chinese occupation right now and our people in Tibet don’t enjoy basic freedoms, we Tibetans believe that all beings in this world are connected to one another and can help each other through generosity and compassion. The motto of the Cup appeals to us greatly.”

Helloa dear Tibetan football friends
more than a month ago we played in Germany , and i had to think over and over again what does ibetan football need the most to be competitive on a international level,
heres my IDEEA :
Tibetan National Football Centre

This is a permanent Tibetan sports village with infrastructure hosting a sports camp complete with facilities like Ground, hostel for all the players, guests. It should be situated in town or a Tibetan refugee camp where there is Football ground facility for easy use.

The idea is have one camp where all the players can stay together and get regular training, make football their lives. Presently they train a week or two just before the international matches. In their usual lives they are shopkeepers, working in restaurants or doing odd jobs in the Tibetan community. So they end up not able to perform. The players are paid a monthly stipend. This camp once established can create the much needed sports atmosphere that is needed to inculcate a genuine modern sports culture in the community. We hope to inspire many Tibetan youngsters find interest in sports, and health consciousness.

All the members of TNFA and staff can stay on the Campus, and support the centre on a practical level.

The village should be situated in a good place which is geographically and climatically suitable for regular training. And also not very far from an international airport. Should be accessible by road transport. There should be good water supply.

Facilites:
A) Football Ground with 2-3 Fields / Dress/Shower Room
B) Central Sport Hostel with Kitchen which also acts as Canteen.
C) A Gym with basic training facilities
D) Partnership with shool for Youngsters

Goals:
Push Tibetan Football to a new level

Future Goals :
Tibet Team participation in Indian Pro-League

Training shool for Tibetan Youngsters
Getting Tibetan Players in Pro-Leagues around the Globe
